Goodbye, and Thank You

If there's anyone out there still checking in on this blog, I wanted to take this opportunity to formally sign off. After a lot of thought and a fair amount of agonizing, I've made the bittersweet decision to move on from More Ways to Waste Time.

More importantly, I wanted to give my sincere thanks to you for reading, whether it's been for the entire two-plus years and 1,500 or so posts that have elapsed since I began this blog, or whether you found yourself here just recently. I've truly enjoyed highlighting the work of so many inspired artists, craftspeople, and independent retailers, delighted in every last one of your comments and emails, and cherished the many online friendships that have resulted.

All my best to all of you.

I'm so bummed. I just decided to move to Alameda (from Brooklyn) and I was planning to see all of the places that you have written about, which I'll still do, but I was looking forward to more ideas. I've only been there once, I'll need a lot of ideas!!

Best of luck to you and your family and all for all your future endeavors!

i've never comment on any blog but I have to say, i'm sad to see this one go. Thank you so much for this wonderful blog. Wishing you all the best for a creative and happy future. Thanks again :)

Rats! Just stumbled yesterday onto an older post on your blog (sunprint fabric) and bookmarked it, then read your most recent goodbye post. Funny, I live in the East Bay also (but thru the CultureCut tunnel in Walnut Creek) and have a son the age of your daughter. I was stoked about this blog! Maybe you could just post really infrequently.. (once a month?) for awhile and see if you change your mind! Or maybe your daughter could take it over, since she is very 'can do'! Best of luck, Kymberly J

i'm not a designer or artist but after stumbling on your blog one day i came to appreciate your eye for cool and beautiful things. and for someone not in the know, it was an incredibly useful website.
you became one of my daily online stops.
good luck with all your future endeavors.
i will definitely miss this blog.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog! You have no idea how many fabulous ideas you've given me, and how sad it is that you're not going to be sharing this anymore! :( Loved your finds, your ideas, and your style!

_very glad_ you didn't delete this blog. I happened to stumble upon it after you 'overed and outed' and was sorely disappointed. On the flip side, I've actually been so happy to have found - and bought - gifts from your esty finds! Thanks so much for your hard work.

So sorry to see you go, I have enjoyed your posts and listings. You've been the source for many prints and other ideas around my home! Thank you and all the best with future ventures!

L-
Maybe you're just taking a 'break' to reevaluate things. Yes. That sounds good. A break. Blogging everyday is taxing - I can't imagine the amount of work. Just know that you have been in my top 5 sites since you started. Right up there with Design Sponge. I especially love the fact that you're here in the Bay Area.

Whatever you do - I'm sure it will be fantastic.

All the Best,
-N

Crap.....a little late to the fairwell party, but I will miss you nevertheless. You were one of the blogs I found early on that inspired me to start my own. Loved your house, your ebay finds, and the support you gave to all the indie's out there. I wish you all good things in your brilliant future!

Wow, I actually have a lump in my throat. Your website was a gateway for me; it was a smorgasbord to visit every week as I sat in my boring office trying to not contemplate my boring job, I would visit this site and it was a visual ahhhhhhh - whatever your next endeavor is, please make sure to let everyone know!

Hello. I don't even know if you will read this, but I live in Fremont and I just stumbled upon your blog and I LOVE IT! You have so many cool things (even things that I have....or would want to have) on your blog. And how great is it that you are local! Thanks for making my night and inspiring me to buy that danish modern chair that I found on craigslist. (even though I don't really have the money for it...hey it's a good deal.) I saw it in your blog all spruced up and had to have it.

It's too bad that the you will no longer be here to continue the blog since a lot of people will miss you. But since you put a lot of time in thinking about it, I guess it is understandable but it would be better if you would visit the blog sometimes.

hello.
i come here infrequently (oh, really? :-) but could spend hours on your blog when i was down and out and in search of a lift, or needed some real inspiration.
thanks for leaving this up -- some of the things on here are timeless, and i'll bet there are those like me who will come back again and again.
if you ever rest up and decide to begin again, it's clear that you have a following, and a very worthwhile blog.
thanks for some things big and little that you gave me.

I also wanted to say thanks – it's been a few months since I last had the time to come, and now this... oh my. I really enjoyed the Etsy finds, and Bay Area shopping info.

So thanks for that, and for keeping the blog up, I will be coming back!

Hello! Hope comments are still forwarded to you. I used to be a faithful reader & really loved your decor taste & style. I am inheriting a 1950s buffet and hutch from my grandma soon, and remember seeing in a blog how "somebody" had used that great Orla Kiely wallpaper as backing on their shelves. I knew it was from a blogger I frequented but couldn't for the life of me remember WHO.

Anyway, a quick Google search for the wallpaper brought me back to you & your site. Thanks again for the inspiration, even many many months later. Hope you are well and still being creative & stylish in your life!

All the best for you and your family.
